Super Visa LICO Income Table 2026

Last updated:

The super visa income requirement is based on the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) for your family size, plus a margin. The bigger your family size, the higher the income you need. Always count family size correctly and verify the current figures against canada.ca, since the numbers change each year.

The super visa income test is built on a federal table called the Low Income Cut-Off, or LICO. The amount you must show depends on your family size. Here is how to read the table and avoid the mistakes that trip families up.

The LICO income table

Find your family size in the table below, then read across to the income required. The figures rise with family size — more people means a higher threshold.

Super visa minimum income (LICO) by family size, 2025 tax year
Family sizeMinimum income required (2025)
1 person$30,526
2 people$38,002
3 people$46,720
4 people$56,724
5 people$64,336
6 people$72,560
7 people$80,784
Each additional person+ $8,224

Income figures are updated each year, so treat the table as a guide and confirm the current numbers on canada.ca before you submit.

How family size is counted

This is where most mistakes happen. Your family size is not just the people living in your home. It includes everyone you are responsible for plus everyone you are inviting.

  • Count the host (you).
  • Count your spouse or common-law partner.
  • Count your dependent children.
  • Count the parents or grandparents you are inviting — and their dependents, if any.
  • Count anyone else you sponsor or are financially responsible for.

Which year's income to use

Since March 31, 2026, you can meet the LICO threshold using either of the two most recent tax years. Read the 2026 income changes for the details, and check whether a parent's income can supplement yours.

Check your exact number

Rather than reading the table by hand, use the income calculator to get the threshold for your family size, and see the full income requirements page for how it all fits together.

Whatever figure you use, confirm it against the official LICO numbers on canada.ca, since the amounts change every year.

Frequently asked questions

Do I count the parents I'm inviting in my family size?

Yes. The parents or grandparents you invite are part of your family size, which raises the income you need. Forgetting them is the most common mistake.

If I invite both my parents, how does that affect the income?

Inviting two people adds two to your family size, so the required income is higher than for inviting one parent. Count both.

Are the LICO figures the same every year?

No. The LICO amounts are updated each year, so always verify the current numbers on canada.ca before you submit.

Which tax year's income is measured against LICO?

Since March 2026, you can use either of the two most recent tax years — whichever is stronger meets the threshold.
